Accepting Average

Thursday, February 15

Most people want to be average.

That sounds harsh but look around you. Nearly everyone you see Is living an average life. And by average life I don’t mean that they have average jobs, make average money, live in average homes.

I mean their actual life. Their words, their thoughts, their actions. All average (and for some, well below average). They simply show up each day and go through the motions with no intent or purpose. Just get through today and do the same tomorrow.

The thing is, if you ask people if they want to be average they would say no. Nobody says they want to be average. Nobody says they want to just go through the motions. The next question should then be, “Can you show me what you are doing to not settle for average?” What would follow is an awkward silence.

What we say we want and what our actions reveal that we want are often at odds with each other. Which results in frustration, disappointment and shame. Because we know we are not living up to the standard we say we are about.

The two questions each of must answer:
Do you want to be average or do you want to unlock your potential?
If you want to unlock your potential, what are you going to do to make that happen?

Our actions reveal our true priorities and goals. Reject average and step into your potential. There’s no better day than today.
