Believe the best
Friday, September 20
There was a study done on two groups of people who were going to experience some difficulty, some adversity. They told one group that it was going to be incredibly difficult and they probably didn’t have what it takes to complete it. They told the second group that it was going to be incredibly difficult, but that they had what it takes and they will be better off once they are done.
The first group struggled, having a miserable experience and most quit.
The second group not only finished, but finished faster and had a a positive experience.
Both groups experienced difficulty. The same amount of difficulty. The same amount of adversity (at least in the physical world).
But the group with a negative mindset, who believed they didn’t have what it took, who believed it would be too difficult, they faced not only physical adversity but mental adversity. And they expected the worst, they got the worst.
The second group had a positive outlook, a positive perspective, and battled through. They experienced less mental adversity. They weren’t unrealistic (they knew the task would be difficult), but they believed they could do it and that it would help them. They believed the best and they got the best.
The point? Believe in yourself today. Believe you can overcome whatever challenge is in front of you. Believe that even though it’s difficult, it will make you better. That because it is difficult it will make you better.
Mindset is everything. Believe the best today.
