Best always?

Wednesday, November 5
How was your attitude yesterday? What about your effort, your communication, your belief?
Now ask yourself: how were those things when you were around the “difficult” people? The ones who frustrate you, challenge you, or drain you.
We tend to assess ourselves based on how we show up with those who are easy to communicate with, work with, lead, follow. When the circumstances are to our liking. But being our best when it’s easy is, well, easy. Anybody can do that.
It’s who we are the rest of the time that reveals our gaps. We can make excuses, but those excuses are justifying below the line behavior.
If you are going to make things better, be at your best when it’s easy to make an excuse.
Anyone can be at their best when it’s convenient.
Leaders are at their best when it’s not.
