Better behaviors

Everything you do flows through this framework: Beliefs drive Behaviors
Our beliefs about ourselves and others (identity), our beliefs about our situation and our plan, all drive the actions we take.
Which means wrong behaviors come from wrong beliefs.
So how do you change it? Most people want to change their actions (behaviors), but that is a futile effort without first changing your beliefs. Here’s a simple but powerful three step framework I’ve been using for this.
Catch the belief
Challenge the belief
Change the behavior
When you recognize the wrong belief - “I’m not good enough.” “They always mess this up.” “This situation is too difficult.” - you can pause and challenge it. You can realize that it is a lie and you can replace it with truth. And when you replace it with truth, you’ve changed your belief. Which means better behavior follows.
If we want better behaviors, we must start with better beliefs.
