Choose today

Monday, September 14
Oklahoma State hadn’t beaten an FBS opponent in its last 21 attempts. It had been an almost full two years. They had only won 4 of their last 20 games overall. Last year, they lost to Oregon 69-3. They started this season with another disappointing loss to highway neighbor Tulsa.
Needless to say, things on the football field have not been great for my alma mater over the past few years. And then they went out and beat #6 Oregon, a pre-season national title contender, on Saturday. (apologies to any of my Oregon friends reading this)
But your past doesn’t dictate your future. What happened last year doesn’t have to determine what you do today. What happened last week doesn’t have to determine what you do today.
You can accept the truth of the past, but you do not have to let that be your truth today. All it takes is belief and commitment. Belief that you are not defined be your past. Belief that you are capable of excellence. Belief that a better tomorrow is available to you. And a commitment to do what it takes to achieve it.
Yesterday is over. You don’t have to repeat it. You don’t have to keep living it. Choose to pursue better today.
