Commitment over Motivation

Tuesday, October 3

There’s something you’ve been avoiding that you know needs to be done. You know it will make you better, you know it’s not as difficult as you’re making it out to be, you know you need to take action on it. It could be going to the gym, it could be changing your diet, it could be a difficult conversation, it could be enrolling in a course, it could be seeking out a mentor, it could be applying for a job. I don’t know what it is but you do.

Write down the date for two weeks from now. Set a reminder on your calendar. By that time, you need to have taken the step. If it can be completed by then, it needs to be competed. If it can only be started by then, start it. No excuses, don’t negotiate with yourself.

You don’t need more motivation or inspiration, you need more commitment. You need to do the work.
