Don't judge

Tuesday, May 19
You made a mistake. You didn’t close the deal. You raised your voice in a meeting. The presentation didn’t go as planned. You made the wrong decision.
Like most people do, you can judge yourself.
I suck at sales.
I’m a bad coach.
I’m an emotional wreck.
I choke during presentations.
How do you think that’s going to go? Is it helpful? Would you say that to someone else in your situation and expect them to have a healthy response and do better the next time? Of course not.
Instead of judging, just observe.
I didn’t listen to the objections well enough.
I miscalculated the moment.
I let their disagreement bother me.
I rushed the beginning.
Those are observations you can work with. Those are critiques you can learn from.
Judgment shuts down growth. It creates more tension, more pressure, more doubt. Observe, learn, grow.
