Fear the work
Friday, December 6
To help you/your team launch into 2025 with intention, I’m offering half off my virtual team sessions in December and January. These will be 1 hour sessions with your team, covering your pick of topic: leadership, mindset, communication, overcoming adversity, the process of greatness. If you’re interested, just shoot me an email here.
I had a professor in college (I’m sure many of us had one like this), who on day one told the class just how difficult, borderline impossible, the class would be. He told us the amount of hours it would require outside of class, how big the projects would be and how such a low percentage of students passed. “if you’re not up for it, I suggest you drop this class today and find another one.”
The next time the class met, the room was less than half full. The professor smiled. “I just wanted to see who doesn’t care to work hard. Now let’s have some fun and a great semester.”
Was the class hard? Sure. But nothing crazy. Yet the fear of hard work got more than half the class to bail. They wanted the easy way.
This is life on the pursuit of our potential. It is going to be difficult. It will take longer than you think. It will require more of you than you thought you could give. All of those are true. And it’s why most people settle for average. They are afraid of the work, afraid of the process, afraid of not having what it takes.
This is your choice. Will you fear the work or embrace the work? Only one path leads to progress.
