Fearing average

Thursday, January 18

It’s a powerful reminder of the way we should show up. Mistakes? Part of the the game. Failures? Guaranteed. Setbacks? It’s what we’re signing up for. Too often, the fear of those things keeps people from bringing their best to the day. The “What if?” monster creeps in and steals their belief and motivation.

The real failure is simply going through the motions as if the moments and days don’t matter. As if our actions don’t matter. That guarantees that we never come close to our potential, that we never make the impact we were made to have, and that we ultimately wind up with regret.

The “What if I fail?” question turns into the “What if I had just given my best?” nightmare.

Don’t fear mistakes. Fear settling for average.
