Goal report card
Wednesday, July 31
What do you want? What is your goal, the thing you are running after? Write it down. It could be to be a better leader, to be healthy, to be a better parent or partner, to be a better communicator, to have a better mindset.
Now write down the 3-5 things that people who are that do consistently. Meaning, if you want to be healthy, write down the 3-5 things that healthy people do consistently. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Now next to each of those things, put a + or - for you. If it’s something you regularly do, put a + next to it. If it is something you don’t do consistently (at least 3 times per week), then put a - next to it.
This is your goal report card. And it reveals your commitments. It reveals where you need to get better. It reveals your reality. If you wrote down 5 things and you aren’t doing at least 3 of them consistently, you don’t want your goal enough. You are not as committed as you need to be. You can’t say that healthy people eat well, exercise and get good sleep, do none of those things regularly, and wonder why you aren’t getting healthy even though you claim to want to.
Goals require specific habits. You are either building the right habits or you are ignoring them. You can only ignore the truth for so long. Today, commit to doing what is necessary. Then renew your commitment daily.
