Grateful

Wednesday, November 22

Everyone has the option to choose gratitude but too many choose to complain, to be bitter, to crave more, to compare, to whine.

None of those things lead to good outcomes. You don’t complain, whine or compare your way to a better day or life. You don’t constantly crave more and be at peace.

Whatever is going on in your life, whatever has happened in your life, you can still choose gratitude.

You can be grateful that you woke up this morning, that you can breathe, that you can move, that you can work and create and produce and innovate. You can be grateful that you had a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, food to eat. You can be grateful for people who have invested in you and people who are invested in you. You can be grateful for successes and failures and lessons learned along the way. You can be grateful that you have the opportunity of today.

And if we need anything in this world, it’s more people who are grateful. I’ve mentioned it before but in the fall of 2020 I started being intentional with gratitude. Every morning I write down 10 things I’m grateful for. Before the stress and chaos of the day, I start with gratitude. It takes less than 5 minutes.

It’s a practice that has changed my mindset, changed my perspective, and forces me to look for the good. No matter what happened the day before, I can find 10 things to be grateful for and make that my focus. In 1157 days, I’ve missed 2. My challenge for you this Thanksgiving, is to do the same.

Make gratitude a lifestyle.
