Imagine

“When your imagination and your will are in conflict, your imagination always wins.”
This was a quote I heard on a podcast while driving to speak at an event for coaches in Arkansas over the weekend. It was one of those where I had an audible reaction. And immediately texted the quote to a handful of people.
So let’s read it again. When your imagination and your will are in conflict, your imagination always wins.
Meaning, if you can’t see the version of you that you are trying to become, you will never become that version of you.
If you can’t see yourself as healthy, you will never will yourself into becoming healthy.
If you can’t see yourself being resilient, you will never will yourself into becoming resilient.
If you can’t see yourself being disciplined, you will never will yourself into becoming disciplined.
If you can’t see yourself being a great leader, you will never will yourself into becoming a great leader.
If you can’t see yourself being successful, you will never will yourself into becoming successful.
Said another way, if you don’t believe it you will never become it. Your mind cannot become what it cannot imagine. This is why the power of having a vision, and seeing yourself accomplishing or living out that vision, matters. It reorients the brain around you becoming that person. It changes your actions and as a result, your outcomes.
You don’t need more willpower. You need to believe, truly believe, in who you can become.
Belief drives behavior.
