Just go

Thursday, January 22
I was meeting with a friend recently who is considering taking action on a new idea. They had planned, they had talked with several people, they had gone back and forth, they had asked questions, they had met with more people, they had gained more clarity on the idea, and asked more questions and met with more people.
Finally they asked, “If I have more questions, can I call you?”
“Of course,” I told them. “I’m more than happy to help. But you don’t need more help or more information right now. You just need to take action. Nothing matters until you take the step.”
They had let fear convince them that meeting with all of these people and asking all of these questions was useful and necessary - and some of it was, of course. But they could’ve repeated that pattern for years and never taken the step because they didn’t have “enough” info or hadn’t asked “enough” questions. At some point, they have to put their head down and do the actual work.
So much of chasing our potential is figuring it out as we go. Yes, seek out mentors and information as you begin, but every journey is unique. And you don’t truly know what you need until you are in the arena doing the work.
Fear will keep you busy forever and then leave you frustrated that you’ve not made any progress.
Take action. Do the work. Start the process.
