One of the main jobs of the CEO is to maximize the organization's value. To lay out a vision and strategy, get the right people in place who can execute that strategy, identify and take advantage of the opportunities to increase value, and be aware and avoid things (internally and externally) that may threaten the value of the organization. They must build the brand and protect the brand. The better a job the CEO does, the more valuable the organization is and the more reputable the organization is.

Similarly, our daily job is to maximize our value - except I would frame it as an influence. To do this means we not only have to be thinking, saying, and doing things that build influence, but avoiding thinking, saying, and doing things that diminish our influence. To build our personal brand and protect our personal brand.

Be aware of how you spend your day. Be mindful of how you think, what you say, and what you do. Are you being intentional to build your influence and be someone worth following? Are you diminishing your influence by complaining, being negative, gossiping, and rejecting feedback? Is your reputation what you want it to be?

Build your influence. Protect your influence. Maximize your value.
