KCW. Tuesday May 9

Tuesday, May 9

I was talking with a friend recently about the topic of getting better. His focus was on the area of fitness and health. I asked how often he is working out, and he said regularly. I asked when the last time he worked out was, and he said it had been Monday. We were talking on a Friday. I gave him a look that said, "You know the truth I'm about to tell you."

"Two days a week isn't regularly working out. Sure, that's more than most people probably do, but that won't get you where you want to be. To get healthy, you must realize that 'regular' means you don't miss two days in a row." He knew that was true, but it was a moment where he had to be honest with himself. To decide how committed he wanted to be. To choose between whether he would be a person who talked about getting healthy or a person who was healthy.

But that's what we all want. Not just about health but also our leadership, team culture, relationships, and influence. We want to show up every now and then and get the results of those who show up every day. We want to do the work when we feel like it, yet get the benefit of those who are genuinely committed.

Getting better isn't an every-now-and-then thing, it's a lifestyle. Commit and do the work.
