Keep Chopping Wood. Friday, May 19

Being average is easy to say "yes" to at first. It's easy not to work out. It's easy to eat unhealthy food all the time. It's easy not to have difficult conversations. It's easy not to budget well. It's easy to make excuses for why you won't do things. It's easy to live that life and make those decisions. Until suddenly, it isn't. Until suddenly, you're unhealthy (physically, mentally, emotionally), don't have influence, are in financial trouble, or have unhealthy relationships. Over time the easy, average life creates a very hard life.
Being your best is hard at first. It's hard to wake up early to work out. It's hard to eat healthy consistently. It's hard to stick to a budget. It's hard to have a healthy confrontation. It's hard to take ownership and not blame others. It can be a difficult life to live. Until suddenly, it isn't. Until you look up and you're healthy (physically, mentally, emotionally), are a leader worth following, are financially stable, have great relationships, and are a person who honors their commitments and has strong habits. The more you choose to be your best, the easier things are for you to handle. Life will still throw difficulties your way, but you'll be prepared and capable.
Tomorrow you can pay the cost of choosing easy today, or you can reap the benefit of choosing to do what's hard today. You get to choose your path.

PS: Hard for me to believe but today marks three years since the book came out. That it has had any success is because of people like you. Grateful for your support of it over the years. It’s being used by leaders, teams and organizations around the globe as a resource to help them get better. If you don’t have a copy yet, grab one here. When I launched it I offered free Zoom calls for any team that bought more than 25 copies. That offer still stands (just email me a copy of the receipt)
