Keep Chopping Wood. Tuesday, July 11

Tuesday, July 11

There is a pain in being physically stretched. It is uncomfortable, pulling you in ways you don’t want to be pulled. But that stretching is helping to prevent injuries, making you more flexible, and allowing you to perform up to your potential.

To resist or avoid stretching means you are taking on a greater chance of injury. Instead of your body performing freely, it is more likely to restrict your performance. When you avoid stretching, you will seize up.

The same is true for us when it comes to growth. Being stretched is not comfortable. It tests us. It pulls us in ways we haven’t been pulled and challenges us. But those tests prepare us for moments when we will need those muscles of resilience, commitment, confidence, and preparation. If we avoid it, we will freeze up in those moments. We won’t be able to do the work we need to do to take advantage of the opportunity in front of us.

Your growth is directly tied to your willingness to be stretched. Embrace the discomfort.
