Keep Chopping Wood. Wednesday, August 23

Wednesday, August 23

Stress isn’t about your situation.

Some people get critiqued by their boss, take the information, get back to work, and focus on improving.
Some people get critiqued by their boss, decide that their boss doesn’t like them, then go back to their desk and worry for the rest of the day.

Some people have new information change the work they must do on a deadline, then go and do it.
Some people have new information change the work they must do on a deadline, feel overwhelmed, and freeze under stress.

Stress is not a situation. Situations are neutral. Stress is how you respond to a situation. Stress is your reaction. This is why some people handle seemingly difficult situations well, and some handle the same situation terribly. Same situation, different perspective, different response. It’s not about their talent, it’s about their mindset.

Want to decrease the stress in your life? Choose to have a better perspective on your situation.
