Labels

Friday, May 16

It’s hard to regulate your anger when you tell yourself you just have a bad temper.
It’s hard to develop the habits you want when you tell yourself you are an undisciplined person.
It’s hard to accomplish your goals when you tell yourself you’re a person who can’t do hard things.
It’s hard to be positive when you tell yourself you’re a pessimist.
It’s hard to become a good leader when you tell yourself nobody cares what you have to say.

Maybe these are labels people have put on you. Maybe they are labels you have put on yourself.

But our labels become our identities. They shape how we show up, which means they are determining our outcomes.

If you want to get better, start with giving yourself a better identity.
