Lighten the load

What are you carrying?
Too many people have baggage they’ve accumulated over their life.
Past failures or mistakes they didn’t let go of.
Hurtful words from somebody that they hung onto.
Embarrassment of goals you went after but didn’t achieve.
Disappointment that things aren’t as you hoped they would be.
These things add up. And if we don’t put them down, they weigh us down. They hold us back. They limit our efforts, our dreams, our beliefs.
What I know is that you are stronger because of those situations, but to continue to carry them with you limits your strength. Think of an Olympic sprinter. They do trainings where they push heavy or pull weights down the track. These weights slow them down but they are building strength. When they remove the weights, they have more acceleration, more speed and more endurance.
The same is true for you. It’s time to put down the weight that you are carrying. It’s time to lighten your load. It’s time to leave those moments in the past where they belong, and use them to get better and stronger today.
You can’t be at your best when you carry the burdens of your past.
