Limiting impact

Friday, October 19

I believe that the overwhelming majority of people are leaving influence and impact on the table. They have opportunities to do and be so much more (and I’m not talking about money or fame, etc), yet settle for average.

The question is, why?

Fear and comfort. The older we get, the more we fear messing up, fear what others think, fear what happens if things go wrong. And the older we get, the more we pursue comfort. Doing what we know how to do makes us feel good and confident because we know we limit our chances for mistakes. In reality, we are padding our stat sheet.

Every bit of your true influence, potential, and impact are on the other side of discomfort, risk, and being tested. You have to push yourself and do what you haven’t done.

Will you fail? Maybe. But you’ll also grow. And get stronger. And get better. And unlock your potential. And isn’t that the goal?

Don’t let the thing that keeps you from getting better be you. Take the step.
