Make the change
Wednesday, March 6
We all have those people in our lives who are disciplined. The people who are positive, always in a good mood. The people who no matter what’s happening in their lives, they are always grateful. The resilient people who who seem to overcome every obstacle.
These people inspire you at times but, to be honest, the probably annoy you as well. Don’t they ever have a bad day? Don’t they every get overwhelmed? Don’t they see all the problems you see?
They annoy you because they stir something up within you. They hit that nerve of, “I know I should be ____, but I’m not.” And then we convince ourselves that they’ve just always been this way. “They were born positive.”
Except I know very few people who have always been positive, disciplined, grateful, resilient.
Which means that those people you know who are living that life? Didn’t always live that life. At some point they were like most other people. Negative, comfortable, inconsistent and ungrateful. It’s our human nature to drift toward those things.
But these people, at some point, looked in the mirror and decided that enough was enough. They didn’t like where that mindset, those actions and that lifestyle leads. So they made changes. They put in the work. They did what they needed to do to develop those skills and those mindsets.
Which means you can do it to. That change is 100% up to you. You can be disciplined. You can be grateful. You can be positive. You can be resilient. If you want to be.
