More or Less

Friday, May 15
We live in a world obsessed with more. And with all of the technological advances that were supposed to make us more efficient, it feels like all we keep doing is adding more to our plate.
And then we get to the idea of getting better. And, yet again, we’re told to do more.
I would actually argue against that. You don’t need to do more, you need to do less. Less of what isn’t working. Less of what is keeping you on the wrong path. Less of what is preventing you from becoming who you were meant to be. It’s like the old story of Michelangelo when asked how he created the statue of David. He said that he looked at the marble, saw David, and started chipping away at everything that wasn’t David.
The best version of you is within you. You do need to do things differently, but you don’t need to do more. Just stop doing the things that aren’t consistent with the best version of you.
In a world obsessed with more, the key to becoming more is actually to do less.
