Movement or Momentum?

Friday, November 3

You’re busy. You’re putting in work. Things are getting done.

And yet, you still don’t feel like you are making any progress. To be honest, this is most people I get to work with. I think it’s most people in general. They wonder why all of this activity isn’t leading to change.

It’s not because you aren’t trying hard. It’s not because you don’t want to get better. It’s just that movement is not same as momentum. Or as John Wooden once said, “Don’t mistake activity for achievement.”

What are you working on? Is it the right thing? Is it making you better or is it just crossing something off a list?

Are the things you are doing in line with the vision you say you are pursuing? If not, no amount of activity is going to get you closer to that vision. It’s just going to burn you out.

Focus on doing the right work, the right way, to move you in the right direction.

Progress doesn’t happen on accident.
