My new book is available today!
Wednesday, August 14
In June of 2022 I was in Tallahassee, Florida to do a retreat with the Seminole Boosters staff. The day I was there, Stephen Ponder was being named CEO. During his speech accepting the new role, he told a story about bison and cows.
Cows, he noted, run away when they sense a storm coming. Fear sets in and they scatter. Bison, though, run into the storm. It was a simple but profound story to inspire the staff, encouraging them that though adversity will always show it’s face, we are going to be team and organization that runs headfirst into it, deals with it, then keeps moving.
The story stuck with me. It wasn’t a new or unique story, but it was my first time hearing it. I’ve since shared it with many of the teams that I’ve worked with. At some point, I felt a stirring for more.
“Why has nobody written a book focused on this story?” was a question I asked myself often. Eventually, I decided to be the answer to the question.
Today, that book is officially available to the world. You can get it here. Don’t miss out on the bonuses you can get here.
The book is not just about bison and cows. It is about mental toughness, resilience, confidence, doing hard things, mindset and getting better because of the adversity you face. It is filled with concepts that we use with some of the top athletes, coaches and teams in sports. While my primary audience tends to be the sports world, this is not just a book for athletes or coaches or sports teams. It is a book for anybody who wants to improve their mindset, to build their resilience, and to become unstoppable.
It is a short story but also comes with exercises, designed to be done individually or by a team/class/organization.
Thanks to the launch team, the book and the exercises in it are already being used in schools and businesses around the country. Their feedback and reviews have been off the charts incredible. Honestly, it’s been a little emotional to hear their opinions on the book. As my oldest son said, “I think this will be bigger than Keep Chopping Wood.”
It is for teens and parents, executives and musicians, healthcare workers and teachers, non-profit and Fortune 500. Is that too broad? Maybe. But I believe one of the greatest challenges facing our world today is a lack of resilient people. What I know is that obstacles in life happen. Adversity is not optional. Hard days are to be expected. And while we cannot prevent them, we do have control how we respond to them.
The more we respond to them with fear, the more fear controls us. The more we respond to them with confidence and determination, the stronger and better prepared we become to face the next obstacle.
Imagine what you could do if you had more confidence. Imagine what your team could accomplish if they had more mental toughness. Imagine what your school would look like if the students and teachers had more resilience. Imagine the impact your business could have if your people had the ability to handle hard things. Imagine how your kids, if you are a parent, could show up if they had an unbreakable mindset. I believe it is the right book with the right message for the time we are living in.
I hope you’ll get the book. I hope you’ll tell everyone you know about the book. And if you get It by September 1, I’ll send you a free guide to mental toughness called 30 Days to a Bison Mentality.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for supporting. It means the world. (and if you’re a new subscriber, know that emails like this are rare. My goal each day is to give you something to help you get better. But today is too important of a day to skip past. We’ll be back to regular programming tomorrow.)
