New thinking

Friday, May 29
You’ve heard some variation of the phrase that if you do what everyone else does, you’ll get what everyone else gets.
We think, “that’s true. I need to do different things.” And then we go back to our regularly scheduled programming of life. We conform to the patterns of the world.
So how do you do something different? You think different. Different thoughts lead to different actions lead to different outcomes.
Most people 1) don’t pay attention to what they think about and 2) don’t take time to truly think. And I think it’s the latter that helps you unlock the former.
We live in a noisy world. I get it. I’m busy, you’re busy. But the benefit of taking time each day to just think, with no devices and no agenda and no judgment, will unlock something within you. I went on two rucks this weekend, for an average of about 40 minutes each - no music or podcasts, just my thoughts. I’m convinced those moments help you gain clarity, find creative solutions to situations, and develop new patterns of thinking.
It could be a gratitude journal or journaling in general. It could be going for a walk. It could be praying or meditating.
Do something to consistently break the pattern. Stop conforming. Be transformed.
