Outcomes
Tuesday, November 12
You are not the outcome of your day today.
You can share an idea in a meeting that doesn’t get accepted. You are not that idea.
You can share a solution to a problem but be incorrect. You are not that solution.
You can take the shot in the game and miss. You are not that missed shot.
You can launch a new initiative that fails. You are not that initiative.
Fear keeps us from doing the thing we know we should do because it has us focused on the outcome (specifically, on a negative outcome). It convinces us that we are the failure, we are the bad idea, we are the failed project. And so to avoid being those things, we instead become small. We become passive. We become timid. And then we wonder why we aren’t making an impact. All of our best ideas and actions live in our head, prevented by fear from seeing the light of day.
When you know who you are, you remove the pressure of the moment. You know you are not defined by the outcome of the moment or the day - good or bad. This frees you up to take the risk, to speak up, to make the decision, to take the shot. And to be at peace with who you are, no matter the result.
Be 100% committed to becoming your best today. And be 100% content with who you are outside of those events. This is the path to greatness.
