Overestimate yourself

Wednesday, November 20

Before we dig in: to help you/your team launch into 2025 with intention, I’m offering half off my virtual team sessions in December and January. These will be 1 hour sessions with your team. If you’re interested, just shoot me an email here.

I saw a quote recently that struck me. “Never underestimate a person who overestimates themselves.”

On the surface, that can sound like ego. As though you think you are better than you actually are. And it’s easy for our cynical minds to go that direction.

But the truth in the statement is that most people underestimate themselves. They settle. They believe they don’t have what it takes. They think they can only run one mile when they can actually run five. And as a result, they never discover what they are capable of. It’s letting fear, your inner critic, keep you playing small.

On the flip side, to overestimate yourself is to challenge yourself. It’s to wrestle with and pursue answers to the questions of what truly is possible, of what you actually are capable of. And when you believe you have what it takes, you will do whatever you can to find out. And while you may not be able to run five miles, you end up running four. And four is a lot better than settling for one, when four was possible all along.

So choose to be the person who overestimates themselves. When we live out of that place of confidence and curiosity, we unlock the door to discovering our true potential.
