Pain or Gain

Thursday, March 6

Think back through the last few weeks or months. If you want to, you can go back years for the big moments.

But consider the decisions you’ve made. The decision to go to that event or not. The decision to speak up or not. The decision to apply for that job or not. The decision to accept that job or not. The decision to buy that house or not. The decision to pursue that goal or not. The decision to be honest with that person or not.

Now think about why you made the decisions. Was it because you were afraid of something? Was it because you were trying to get or gain something (which could be a negative or a positive)?

Most of us live our fears, not our purpose. We make decisions afraid of what we could lose, rather than focusing on what we could gain. And while it may seem like nothing in the moment, over time it adds up. You realize you’ve been living your whole life letting the fear of something drive your decisions, never considering there was another way.

We should always be aware of what’s driving our decisions. Because our decisions today create our future tomorrow. Be driven by purpose, not be fear.
