On the path
Tuesday, August 13
I’ve talked before about the 1 in 60 Rule. It is this concept that, when traveling, getting just one degree off the path will result in you being one mile off course after 60 miles traveled. The point in previous conversations was about how one decision can get you significantly off the path over time.
But today I want to revisit that idea in regards to beliefs, because our beliefs determine our habits, our habits determine our direction and our direction determines our destination.
So if you have just one limited or untrue belief about yourself, it will impact your actions and habits. It will get you just slightly off the path of your desired destination. And in one year, two years, five years, you look up and wonder how you got where you are, frustrated that you are not where you wanted to be.
And it’s all tied back to one untrue belief.
So the question and challenge to you at this moment is, what belief do you hold about yourself that is holding you back? “I’m not good enough.” “I can’t do difficult things.” “I’m not made for this.” “I’m as good as I can be.”
These are the things that take root in us over time. And slowly but surely they come to define and direct our habits. We don’t even realize the negative impact they are having, the detour off the path they are taking us on.
So today, identify that thought and battle it with truth (a confident “I am…” statement). Don’t talk yourself out of it. Don’t partner with the enemy to take yourself out. Don’t let limiting beliefs identify you.
If you want to stay on the path of unlocking your potential, make sure you are operating with the right set of beliefs.
