Responsible

There is a gap between where you are and where you want to be.

To close that gap you need something new, likely a new mindset or new skill.

The question is, who is responsible for developing that new mindset or skill? Who is responsible for closing the gap? Too many people think that it is the responsibility of their team/company/organization. And while, yes, great organizations do invest in learning, nobody is responsible for closing the gap but you.

If you want a new skill, go learn it. If you need a new mindset, do the work to develop it. The world belongs not do the most talented, but do those who do the work required to close the gap. Most people sit around waiting for someone to give them permission, for someone to lead the way, for someone to do the work for them.

You have permission. Ask for help if you need it. Nobody can do the work but you.

Take responsibility.
