Self Confidence

Thursday, March 7

You trust people who keep their word. Who say they will do something and then follow through with it. It gives you confidence in them. On the flip side, we lose confidence in those who don’t keep their word. We want to trust them, we want to have confidence in them, but the evidence doesn’t add up.

The same is true for ourselves. When we don’t do the things we say we will do, we start to lose confidence in ourselves. When we say we’re going to go to the gym, then don’t. When we say we’re going to get healthy, then don’t. When we say we’re going to have the difficult conversation, then don’t.

Then when we think about a new goal, we talk ourselves out of it because we lack the confidence. We lack the confidence we don’t have the proof that we are the kind of person who follows through.

Today is a day to follow through. Set a goal, commit to it, take action on it. It doesn’t have to be major. Set a goal to text a friend or colleague just to check in or encourage them. Then do it. Set a goal to go on a 10 minute walk. Then do it. Set a goal speak up in one meeting. Then do it.

Rebuilding your confidence starts with getting a few small wins. Honor the commitments you make to yourself.
