Self leadership and self talk
Tuesday, August 20
Imagine you had an employee who, every day, you spoke negatively to.
“Why are you so bad at this?”
“Why can’t you figure this out?”
“You should be better than you are.”
“I should just replace you.”
How do you think that person would perform? Terribly. With no confidence, no belief, no encouragement, no support, they would struggle. Ultimately, they would likely quit.
So why do you think you are any different when it comes to your self talk?
You can’t be at your best when you are constantly negative to yourself. When you let the voices of criticism, doubt, negativity, failure, fear and insecurity win. It puts a limit on your potential, on your effectiveness.
If you want to get better, start by talking better to yourself. Be your best boss, your best coach, your best teacher, your best mentor.
Self-leadership starts with self-talk.
