Stack the odds

Monday, July 27

The best way to be where you want to be in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, is to stack the odds in your favor.

What does that mean? It means do the things today that give you the best chance at being where you want to be tomorrow. And then do them again tomorrow.

We coach athletes on this exact framework: probabilistic thinking.

Bad days happen. Bad moments happen. But, over time, if we are doing the things we need to do on a consistent basis, we have more days where we make progress than where we don’t. We are increasing the odds of getting the outcomes we want.

But to consistently avoid the workout, avoid the conversation, avoid the activity we know we should do, stacks the odds against us. We are making the game more difficult.

Have a vision for who/where you want to be. Do the thing today that increases your odds of making that future a reality. Repeat daily.
