Take the stairs

Tuesday, September 17

Are you the 2%?

A study asked 100 people if they would take the stairs, if given the option of taking the escalator. Only 2 people took the stairs. They know taking the stairs is better for them, but the escalator is convenient, it is comfortable, it requires less work.

This is the human condition. We do what is easier, neglecting the very thing we know is better for us. The thing that will make us stronger, more resilient, healthier. Yet it’s the allure of the comfortable that wins.

And then we wake up in a month, year, ten years wondering how we got so off the path. It’s because every time we could’ve done the work, we looked for an easier way. We took the escalator.

Which means we have a choice today. A choice to do what is easy or what makes us better. A choice of comfort or growth. A choice of commitment or convenience.

The choices you make today determine the person you become tomorrow.

Be the 2% today. Take the stairs.
