Telling the truth

Who gets to tell you the truth?

Most people don’t get better because they only have people in their life who make them feel good. Who allow them to be comfortable. Anybody who challenges them, corrects them, critiques them or questions them is labeled as difficult or negative or toxic. And the world tells you to get rid of the negative people in your life.

The problem with that advice is that we label too many people as negative. And sure, some are toxic and negative. But some are just telling the truth. And most people aren’t capable of listening to the hard truth. And it’s easier to label people as negative and dismiss them than to consider that they may be right.

The truth won’t always feel good, but it will always make you better.

This is why the best want to be coached, critiqued, held accountable, corrected. They want people looking for their weaknesses because they know those people are looking out for their best.

The best want people in their life who will tell them the truth. Do you?
