The climb

Thursday, August 13

Most people quit right before the breakthrough.

The pattern usually goes something like this:
Motivated, excited, passionate at the start. And you get some early wins to build on those emotions.
Then the struggle hits. You keep going for a bit but progress slows.
Then it gets more difficult than you expected. You feel like you are losing ground. The excitement has turned to discouragement.

This is where people bail. And then they start on the next goal and repeat the process. 10 years later they’ve started and quit on a laundry list of goals.

The key is to keep showing up in the valley. In that difficult, slow, frustrating season. To remember, in those days, why you started in the first place.

Because the downward slope into the valley eventually turns into the climb back out of it and up the mountain. And if you quit too soon, you never get to experience the joy of the climb. You never reap the fruits of your labor.

Keep going. You’re closer than you think.
