The work

Friday, August 7
If you are in sports, we release part 1 of our mental performance system this week. The Mental Performance Index. We’ve built/tested/used this with HS athletes up to pros. It is free. If you are an athlete, parent of an athlete or leader of an athlete, click here to take it (if you are a coach and want to give it to your whole team, we can set that up - just email me.)
We’ve talked about this before but it’s worth the reminder.
The work won’t always be fun, exciting, sexy, enjoyable, immediately rewarding. Sometimes it is just work.
And if you can show up in those times, you win. Because it is easy to show up when the work is fun and easy. That’s what average people do. And we’ve created a world where people have the expectation that the work should always be fun and easy and fulfilling. And the moment it isn’t, then something must be wrong and we should find something else to do.
That couldn’t be further from the truth. The work is what it is. There are days and seasons where it excites you, and days and seasons where it doesn’t.
The filter should not be, “Is this fun?” The filter should be, “Is this making me better?”
Embrace the work. All of it.
