Habits don’t change easily. They fight back. Developing new habits requires that we reprogram the way we think, in order to reprogram the way we act. Which means that we are having to go against what has become natural to us until, eventually, the new way becomes natural.

When it is natural to sleep in, it is hard to learn to get up early. Until getting up early becomes natural.
When it is natural to eat unhealthy, it is hard to eat healthy. Until eating healthy is natural.
When it is natural to complain, it is hard to be accountable. Until being accountable is natural.
When it is natural to quit, it is hard to be resilient. Until being resilient becomes natural.
When it is natural to be undisciplined, it is hard to be disciplined. Until being disciplined becomes natural.

The habits you want to develop take time. The resistance isn’t a sign you are failing. It is a sign that the old version of you is losing ground. You will go from excited about them, to frustrated by them, to empowered by them. If you keep going.

The work is always worth it. Keep showing up.
