Water the seed

I connected with a new friend recently, who dropped this line on me:

The whole tree is in the seed.

Had to sit with that one for a bit (also wrote about it on Saturday in NO DRIFT, my newsletter for men).

An acorn doesn’t sitting around wishing it could gather the “right” ingredients to make it an oak tree. Every branch, leaf, root is already inside of it. The shade it will provide, the life it will give, already inside of it.

The same is true for you. All of your potential is already within you. Always has been.

Life isn’t about trying to acquire greatness from the outside world. It’s simply the journey of activating, unlocking, and growing what’s already inside. Your influence, your impact, your character, your excellence. It is all fully within.

The question is do you believe it? ​You don’t need to go from seed to tree today. You just pursue and embrace the growth that comes with today. Then repeat daily.

Water the seed. Put in the work.
