Where it starts

Monday, October 7

Political unrest. The increasing potential of WW3. The devastation of natural disasters. Fill in the blank with whatever else stresses you out. The reality is that terrible things have happened every day since the beginning of time. We just didn’t know about it. Now, thanks to technology, we are informed about and exposed to every bad thing that happens at all times in every place around the globe. And for some, it can be overwhelming.

It causes some people to lose hope. To give into despair. To wonder, what’s the point? Can anything get better? What will make a difference?

The way things get better? You. Because all of those things are external circumstances and events that you don’t have control over. Focusing on them will lead to nothing but anxiety and depression. Things get better when you focus on what you can control. And what you can control is you.

You choosing to be more optimistic today. You choosing to be hopeful today. You choosing to connect intentionally today. You choosing to lead well today. You choosing to be healthy (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) today. You choosing to see the good in people today. You choosing to love today.

If you want things to get better, start with you.
