Why?

Why do you want to become a better leader?
Why do you want to learn that skill?
Why do you want to lose that weight?
Why do you want to develop that mindset?
Why do you want to write that book?
Why do you want to accomplish that goal?

Running after your goals will require moments of adversity. It will get hard. Doubt will get loud. Most people quit in these moments not because they are difficult, but because they forget their why (or they never had one to begin with).

And when you have no purpose driving you, why would you do hard things? What’s the point?

But when you have a clear purpose, you have a reason to take the next step, do to the hard work, to stay committed.

Before you start, decide why you want it. And if you’re in the middle of it and struggling, remember why you started.
