Worst competition

Friday, February 27
Look around and the world feels like a competition. Except it is the wrong kind of competition.
Instead of competing to be our best, people are competing to be the biggest victim, the most negative, the most anxious, the most inconvenienced, the most exhausted. Which, to be fair, to live that was is exhausting. To view your life and your circumstances through such a negative lens does ultimately have a negative impact on you.
I see it online, I see it in companies, I see it in conversations.
And while it is easy to go that direction, to follow the unhealthy lead of the world, there’s an opportunity to be different. To show a better way.
There’s never been a better time to be optimistic, to be hopeful, to be positive, to be calm, to take ownership, to bring good energy. But that only happens when we lead ourselves well. When we build up a resilience to not be impacted by the negativity around us.
To take ownership of the way you show up is to reject a victim narrative. It is to believe a better story about yourself, about those around you, about what is possible. If you want to make a difference, start with yourself.
