Your best

It’s that time of year again. All virtual sessions (60 minutes) booked in December and January are half off - this is through BETTER as well as me personally (for my non-sports teams/org readers). The session doesn’t have to be in December or January, just booked during those months. Just reply to this email to lock it in. Also, for the men, I’m doing a personal 6 month NO DRIFT cohort to help you develop discipline and direction. Limited to 10 people. Reply for info.

What would happen if you brought your best to the day?
It’s fascinating how many people I meet with - at all levels of organizations - who are just going through the motions. They blame their boss, their culture, their team, their past mistakes, their fear of mistakes, the world, etc. There’s always a “reason” for not giving their best.
Oftentimes I’ll just ask them a simple question. “What would happen if you gave that person/situation/work your best attitude, effort, leadership, focus, communication? Do you think it would make it better or worse?”
Of course, the answer is always that they believe it would make the situation better - they know there is no guarantee of that, but it has better odds than bringing less than their best to the day.
“Okay, great. So who is stopping you from doing that?” Awkward silence before they acknowledge that nobody is. I’ll give half credit for that answer. Because while nobody else is stopping you, you are stopping you. You can blame situations or people but you are the one who decides how you show up.
So I’ll ask again. What would happen if you brought your best to the day?
